		<description>@GDH: Thanks GDH. I recovered most of the files with Active@ File Recovery. Still I have a lot of work to do. From now on I would suggest everyone to take regular backups. :)</description>

		<description>I suggest you download Recover My Files from http://www.recovermyfiles.com and give it a try. The best type of search to run is a "Complete Format Recover", searching the "physical" drive and search only for the default file types. This search will try and locate your old MFT records, recover the file system, and display the files in the results screen (click on them to preview their content).

It is possible that your MFT is very screwed up and data recovery is not possible using this method. If this is the case, then run a "Complete File Search" on the physical drive - this search will find individual file types by looking for their unique header and footer - it is a very low level of data recovery, but unfortunately it will not bring back the original file names.
